A beautiful and showy annual; leaves having a form of a buckler and the flowers resemble an empty helmet.
There are many varieties. Some are dwarf, some are more or less climbing, producing flowers of various shades, pale straw - colour, orange, scarlet, dark crimson, spotted and striped. Propagated by seeds. A native of South America.
